The Basic Types Of Theft Offences - 869 Words
From when the United States was first founded, all the way up until now we have seen crime. In a perfect world, there is a small chance that crime would not exist, but then again our established world would not either. According the textbook, chapter ten discusses five of the basic types of theft offenses these include, but are not solely limited to larceny, embezzlement, obtaining of property by fraudulent means, receiving or concealing of stolen property, and identity theft (Chamelin, N. Thomas, A., 2009). When determining the actual form of theft there are some words and their definitions that need to be understood. These words are possession, custody, and control. ââ¬Å"The presence or absence of any or all of these factors largely controls the type of offense committedâ⬠(Chamelin, N. Thomas, A., 2009). Larceny can be apprehended through a variety of mischievous actions. One of the original and first forms of theft begins with larceny. In order for larceny to be committe d, one of the five elements of larceny must be committed: taking of someoneââ¬â¢s items, carrying something away, taking of personal property, another person, and/or having the intent to permanently deprive (Chamelin, N. Thomas, A., 2009). According to the FindLaw article, ââ¬Å"Larceny is an offense that developed through the common law and encompasses behavior that most people consider common theft: the taking of someone else s property without permissionâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Theft Overviewâ⬠, 2015). Segmentation of Music Industry Free Essays
Music industry Segmentaion When attempting to segment a particular consumer base or population by personality or motivation, one must consider what personality traits the consumers posses. Of course there are serveral ways to group together personalities ex (fashionable, innovative, extroverted, etc). I have chosen to use Karen Horneyââ¬â¢s theory of three personality groups for segmentation of the music consumer market. We will write a custom essay sample on Segmentation of Music Industry or any similar topic only for you Order Now Karen Horney states that people can be grouped into three personalities; compliance, aggression and withdrawl. Since music consumers can be an almost entire population, it would be a good idea to segment this population into three broad groups. The first personality group, compliance, is can be defined as people who move toward others. This group has a need for affection and approval and a need to be liked by others. The complaint personality consumer would tend to veer toward popular current music or popular music within a certain genre. This is the consumer who would be listening to Justin Timberlake and Lady GaGa when they are at their peak. They would be drawn toward the ââ¬Å"summer hitsâ⬠, toward the songs that are played at clubs and they dance to with their friends. In terms of music consumers, they might be seen as between the ages of 10-40, and this is a very big market withing the music consumer industry. The second personality group, aggression, are considered those who go ahaist toher. This group has a need for power and for control over others. They have the need to be heard by others and fear of seeming stupid. This personality group would be the ones who view themselves as against the popular music, against very popular groups and singers. Maybe they would chose music with a bit more of an edge, harder rock, rap and hip hop music. Finally, the third personality group is knows as detached, and they move away from others. Consumers in this group have a need for self-sufficiency and independence and do not need to rely on anyone. These are the consumers of many independent bands and singers, who see themselves as going against the grain and against society. Once the consumer base has been segmented into personality groups, it is easier to target each of these groups. Many artists and bands can be advertised in such a way that they can appeal to each of these groups. On the retail level, where consumers are in direct contact with the music industry, there are so many opportunities for consumption, ranging from digital/physical music and concert tickets to festival passes, ringtones, merchandise, clothing lines, band donations and nonprofit initiatives. For instance, when targeting the compliant personality consumer, would be easier to advertise towards since they are very conscious and respondent to others tastes. So, when promoting a new album of Adele toward this group, we would be very insistent with her new songs in all settings. Her songs would be played on all major radio stations, promoted in clubs and bars, and also promoted within social networking which has now become an extrememly important word-of-mouth marketing technique. Now, while reaching out to the detached personality consumer, we would use a different marketing approach. Since these consumers are the ones who are geared more toward indepndent music and anything that is specifically not main stream, there needs to be a careful marketing approach done so that they are unaware they are being advertised too. One idea could be promoting smaller, more intimate shows at local record stores. Also, encouraging these fans to support their local record stores instead of retail chains like Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Since music sales have shifted toward digital downloading mediums, they could reach this consuemer base throught there as well. Another possible tactic could be to create album covers that visual appeal to this consumer base, maybe a loan aritist or a band in darker shades or seperated from society somehow, to appeal directiy to this personality base. Finally, the third peronality consumer group is that of aggression. A more tactful approach must be taken when advertising to this market segment. How to cite Segmentation of Music Industry, Papers

Azzimuth is heavily influenced by science ; how it explains the way almost everything in the world works, ; its aim is to produce wristwatches that are adaptable to different cultures with the irm basis of science ; logic. Azzimuth represents a philosophy of the blending of science ; lifestyle-in many different ways possible. IV. SITUATION ANALYSIS 4. 1 SWOT Analysis Strengths: 1. Only company with unique philosophy of blending science ; lifestyle with timepieces. 2. Products are made in Switzerland. 3. varied offerings to diverse segments with a clear cut positioning 4. in ternational tie-ups with Tommy Hilfiger Weaknesses: 1. Lack of huge media campaign even after 8 years of its launch 2. Higher prices compared to other brands like Swatch or Casio. 3. Current survey reveal more focus on expansion than quality 4. brand equity is not created Opportunity: 1. Increase in demand for luxury goods in a fast-paced ; advancing country like Singapore 2. Presence of a monopoly, being the first ; only Singapore based luxury watch company in this country. Threats: 1. Premium international watch brands such as Citizen, ; Omega entered in Singapore. 2. Mobile phones acting as substitutes for watches. 3. As Singaporean market is widely open to importations, it will be difficult for local players to maintain a sustainable growth. . Customer satisfaction level below competitors 5. Expansive advertisements ; promotions done by competitors. 4. 2 Competitor Analysis Two such competitors that Azzimuth is facing are Citizen ; Omega. These 2 brands are well known for being a few of the worlds largest producers of watches. The Citizen Skyhawk A-T line of watches features Radio Controlled Timekeeping. The watches can synchronize with radio clocks in Japan, North America, and Europe and will automatically select the correct frequency for doing so based upon location of home time zone. Citizen watches also incorporates the eco-drive technology which means that their watches will never require batteries. Omega also has its reputation for having been NASAs choice of watches ; was also the first watch on the moon in 1969. It has also been the official timekeeping device for the Olympic Games since 1932. A large number of celebrities have also been endorsed by Omega, such as Daniel Craig, George Clooney, Zhang ZIyi ; Cindy Crawford. Both companies also focus on manufacturing timepieces ; have managed to uncover various product ranges with a very wide product line choice. As such, what these companies have done for themselves grants them the competitive advantage over Azzimuth. 4. 3 Current Marketing What the marketing efforts of Azzimuth Watch Company are lacking of are a stronger character ; identity. Its current advertising efforts consists only of print media on public spaces, such as bus stops, magazines ; newspapers. A few magazines have written print reviews or articles on Azzimuths products the danger in such is that magazine publications might place their products next to another competitors product. By doing so, consumers might tend to compare the products. The only few publications that have been approached for page space for Azzimuth are Style, 8 Days. I-Weekly ; The Newpaper. The limited amount of advertising space may hinder Azzimuths original message from being brought across. By having only print advertisements, there is only so much of Azzimuths message that are revealed to consumers. A good written review might not be as believable if the companys identity character is not made prominent consumer awareness is not high. 4. 4 Statement of Problems There are a lot of problems that Azzimuth is facing right now in respect to its marketing communication efforts. These problems hinder Azzimuth from excelling becoming the ideal brand that they wish due to the loopholes in their MC efforts. The few such problems are: i) poor brand awareness ii)poor brand identity iii)heavy competition against other established brands iv)poor marketing positioning Due to limited marketing efforts, Azzimuth is not able to raise its brand awareness. The poor placing of the brand ( in advertisements) also hinders potential target consumers from being exposed to their products. The brand itself is then unable to be prominent in the horology industry. When unable to position itself evidently in the horology industry in consumers minds, Azzimuth then fails to achieve its desired goals, driving the company down an negative path. V. Marketing Objectives The few objectives that Azzimuth Watch Company is looking to achieve are as follows: i) Efficiently establishing a strong brand identity in the Singaporean market ii) Increasing brand awareness ii) Introduce new range of products efficiently in Singaporean market iv) Incorporate Corporate Social Responsibility v) Achieve sales of 12,000 units of new range of products within the year 2012 If planned strategically ; marketing communications is utilised effectively, these objectives can be brought about. Current awareness of Azzimuth in Singapore is very low as it is not recognized easily ; consumers do not easily identify with the brand ; its products. When the brand awareness is raised, the amount of sales ; profits will most definitely increase. On top of that, people will be able to recognise the brand, improving its reputation. A strong brand identity also allows for consumers to retain ; deem the brand credible. If Azzimuth succeeds in sending a strong visual message used throughout all their business ; marketing communications will keep them a step ahead of their competition. Having a consistent visual identity throughout all of their business ; marketing communications will have them at the forefront of existing ; potential consumers minds when they have a need for Azzimuths products or services. Stability can also be achieved if Azzimuth successfully develops a functional brand identity as it gives the impression that their business is dedicated to the horology industry that they serve. Essentially, the main marketing objective is to introduce ; position accurately the new range of Azzimuth products in the local market ; eventually hit a sales figure of 12,000 timepieces in 2012. VI. STRATEGY ; IMPLEMENTATION The contemplated strategy for Azzimuth Watch Company is to put its marketing communications options to the best use by first effectively introducing ; implementing itself into the market, caving its position in the consumers minds, finally, its new range of products. 6. 1 Target Audience By target audience profiling, it will help Azzimuth make better, more consistent costumer decisions about how to best market sell. It also makes it possible for the staff to treat customers more consistently because everyone is working from the same comprehensive knowledge. When Azzimuth determines its target audience, it can scale their marketing communication efforts thus customise the intended message to their target audience effectively. The prime target audience of Azzimuth are the opulent individuals who afford prefer to indulge in luxury products as a lifestyle choice. These individuals include working class females males with an annual income ranging from S$80, 000 above. An ideal advertising medium for this target audience would be the internet as these individuals are also busy professionals in their respective fields. Due to their hectic work social schedules, it is not likely for them to pick up local lifestyle magazines that are catered for the average market. 6. 2 Brand Image Positioning As a luxury watchmaker, Azzimuth faces intense competition from other established watch brands such as Rolex, Tag Heuer, Swatch etc. By having a unique brand image, Azzimuth will be able to separate itself from other brand peers, hence establishing itself as a unique section of the market. According to Jay Ehret (2009), brands are not concrete; they are the thoughts, feelings psychological relationships between a business a customer, that a brand is the foundation of all its marketing activities. Branding serves as a internal compass of focus that if a business is clearly branded, it has an understanding of what it is about. Over time, a stronger business identity will be built. Azzimuth can adopt the brand image of a science ; logic. Despite close competitors having developed product lines with different motivations philosophies, Azzimuth can be the first brand that emphasises the simple but fundamental philosophy of how things can be easily explained with science logic. Rather than just being a simple luxury brand, playing up to this philosophy gives consumers a chance to associate themselves with products derived from intellect. Consumers usually purchase products with their emotions, rather than logically. With a strong branding image, Azzimuth can position themselves as the distinctive watchmaker that provides consumers with a wide range of luxury products made of high quality with a unique philosophy, setting them apart from other watchmakers in the Singaporean market. 6. 3 New Products Azzimuths new range of products caters to the pivot in their target consumers, focusing on minimalistic designs, with the motivation being that individuals from all walks of life can opt for a luxurious yet simple timepiece that eludes style. 6. Pricing Stratergy The pricing strategy for Azzimuths new range of products is Mazimum Market Skimming. In this approach whereby Azzimuth sets a high price for its new high-end product so to obtain maximum revenue from the market before substitute products appear. This pricing strategy is ideal as it complements the luxurious image of the brand as it is unlikely for its target audience to prefer purchasing timepieces that are very lowly priced. The high price w ill set it apart from its peers by delivering the image of a exceptional product. VII. Recommended IMC Strategy With proper planning in advertising, consumers will be able to perceive a brand positively. Azzimuth has to take a multi-pronged approach to their advertising methods for its brand name to be rooted in the consumers minds. The initial strategy is for Azzimuth to establish its brand identity, constitute its brand image ; finally, re-position themselves as a brand of luxury watches that are adaptable to different cultures with the firm basis of science ; logic. The proposed timeline for the execution of the recommended IMC strategy is 12 months, split into 3 phases. The first 4 months of the strategy will pay close attention to positioning the brand image in the hearts ; minds of consumers ; increasing brand awareness. Starting with a series of print advertisments carefully designed to appeal to their needs ; wants, this first phases target is to re-position Azzimuth as a brand of timepieces with scientific philosophy luxurious appeal. Concertedly with this launch of fresh print advertisements will be the implementation of product testimonials placements. Celebrities like Beyonce will share their experiences on their preference for Azzimuths products, while the product will also be placed carefully in the movie series Oceans Trilogy. Exposure of this product to millions of movie-watchers will ensure ample advertisement for it. The next trimester of the strategy will consist of a next series of print advertisements TV commercials with similar outdoor print advertisements to follow. American actor film producer Adrien Brody, who became the youngest actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor will be endorsed to portray Azzimuth as The Ideal Option for luxurious watches. Also included would be a TV commercial of Brody highlighting his preference for Azzimuths product range. Similarly, Brody will be featured in an exclusive interview on Azzimuths official webpage, speaking in-depth on his passion for exclusive luxury watches the reason behind it why Azzimuth is his ideal option. Finally, the last phase of this strategy traversing over 4 months ill involve the setting up of a segment on Azzimuths official website, educating potential watch-buyers on what to look out for in their next purchase. A forum will also be set up separately for Azzimuth watch owners to share their product choices ; opinions. 7. 1 Broadcasting media: Product Placement The Oceans Trilogy combines well-known elements from heist films con artist films. Azzimuth will be able to increase it s brand awareness by placing its brand in a highly popular movie that is watched by all ages consumer groups worldwide. . 2 Print Advertising: Print Media Azzimuth is currently only utilising print media efforts in Direct Publicity technical reviews. On top of the high possibility of its products being placed directly next to a competitors, these reviews are written from a third-person perspective ; may not be ample for consumers to be convinced to purchase Azzimuths products. Such reviews do not directly send the intended message to consumers, let alone communicate the brands identity ; image. The placement of their reviews are also only in lifestyle magazines that perhaps most established individuals do not peruse as they are used to their lifestyle whereby they peruse luxurious lifestyle magazines. Hence, Azzimuth Watch Company must design ; release a series of print advertisements on the correct portal to allow successful communications with their target audience. Fig 7: Impression of new Azzimuth Print Advertisement The tagline Perfect Symmetry collates ; sends across the message of Azzimuths intended brand identity image. The term symmetry implies Azzimuths new range of products whereby minimalism takes place heavily. 7. 3 Celebrity Endorsements: Adrien Brody famous people eat, drink, travel, go shopping and generally behave like normal consumers, albeit ones with much greater spending power and the ability to influence the buying decisions of others simply by what they choose to buy for themselves. This aspirational effect, whereby people seek to emulate their favorite celebrities, presents a golden opportunity for brands. Endorsing a celebrity provides two important things for Azzimuth: Aspiration ; Credibility. In todays competitive marketplace, a perceived celebrity endorsement can give Azzimuth the product or service the instant recognition legitimacy that would normally take years to earn. Adrien Brody has built a successful reputation for himself by being the youngest winner for an Academy Award for Best Actor also the only American that has won a french Cesar Award. He has also made his debut as a runway model for Prada. IX. Conclusion In todays fast-paced environment, companies have to pay special attention to how they communicate with their target consumer groups. Consumers have developed a need for knowledge ; information before a purchase ; this has become a necessary process as consumers desire to know they are making a well-informed purchase. Hence, it is vital to comprehend their target consumer groups completely. With this information, they can integrate a substantial ; suitable IMC plan to help companies branch out to their target audience ; be prepared for any consumer responses.

the natural essays
the natural essays The Natural, written by Bernard Malamud starts out with Roy, an aspiring baseball player on a train with his scout, Sam. Roy is still in his younger years, while Sam is an old scout who has slowed down over the years. On the train Sam notices that a well-known sportswriter, Max Mercy, is aboard, along with Walter Whambold, a superstar ball player, so he introduces Roy to them. Walter the Whammer Whambold is a cocky arrogant man who wants nothing to do with Roy or Sam. At one of the train stops, they have an hour to kill so Sam and Roy go to a local carnival, where Roy plays a game where you have to throw a baseball at a pyramid on three bottle. Of course Roy is great at this game, and draws the attention of Whammer, and Sam bets Whammer that Roy can strike out Whammer. Roy was very uncertain of Sams wager, but goes along with it. The Whammer tries to take all of the confidence out of Roy, but after the first pitch that landed in Sams catchers mitt, he had all the confidence i n the world. The next two pitches were much easier and he ended up striking the Whammer out. The book takes a big time jump to where Roy is thirty-four years old and just getting on a pro team, the Knights. He gets made fun of his age and being a rookie, but he makes it through the though times and starts to live his dream. Post modernism tries to convert the modern world, or unique individual, into a more standard whole. One fine example in The Natural is when the team is receiving a prayer and Roy storms out of the room halfway through it. He said he wasnt going to be hypnotized by some priest, and Pops, the head coach yelled at him and told he that if he keeps walking, hell never step foot on the field again. The coach, in a postmodern society is trying to unify the team instead of having everybody doing their own thing. ...

More Answers to Questions About Commas
More Answers to Questions About Commas More Answers to Questions About Commas More Answers to Questions About Commas By Mark Nichol Here are a few questions I have received recently about insertion or omission of commas. 1. When there are two introductory clauses, as in ââ¬Å"In fact, to that end, letââ¬â¢s work hard as a team,â⬠Iââ¬â¢m wondering whether a comma should follow ââ¬Å"to that endâ⬠or whether including another comma so close to the one following ââ¬Å"In factâ⬠looks cluttered. I would retain the second comma, because I would retain it if ââ¬Å"In factâ⬠were omitted, and I prefer to be consistent. The choice is a matter of preference between open (less) and close (more) punctuation, and I believe that close punctuation is more conducive to clarity and smooth reading. (However, you might also consider whether ââ¬Å"in factâ⬠is, in fact, necessary. It is superfluous as I just used it, and although I donââ¬â¢t know the context of the preceding sentence(s) in the source material, itââ¬â¢s likely extraneous in the statement you provided, too.) 2. Iââ¬â¢m never sure when to use a comma before because and when not to. Iââ¬â¢ve read various explanations but am still confused. Would it be accurate as a rule of thumb to omit a comma when the word only can be inserted in front of because without changing the meaning? In your example, the change would read, ââ¬Å"The convention will be delayed until Tuesday [only] because of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac now bearing down on Florida.â⬠If the sentence is still true with only inserted, then omit a comma before because- does this work as a rule of thumb? In a sentence constructed like the example above, when the verb phrase (ââ¬Å"will be delayedâ⬠) is not negated, a comma is omitted regardless of the presence or absence of only. It is required, however, in ââ¬Å"The convention will not begin on Monday, because of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaacâ⬠(which is better organized as follows: ââ¬Å"Because of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac, the convention will not begin on Mondayâ⬠). The absence of a comma in ââ¬Å"The convention will not begin on Monday because of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaacâ⬠invites the reader to ask, ââ¬Å"Why, then, will it begin on Monday?â⬠This question, obviously, does not reflect the meaning intended. Another Daily Writing Tips reader provided this citation from The American Heritage Guide to Contemporary Usage and Style: ââ¬Å"When because follows a negated verb phrase, it must be preceded by a comma when the because clause explains why the event did [or will] not take place.â⬠3. Iââ¬â¢ve generally been using a comma before then in a sentence, but I find places it doesnââ¬â¢t sound like itââ¬â¢s needed. When I did a search online, I found that people have different opinions. Does it really matter? Can it be done either way for style, or does there always have to be a comma before it? In an ââ¬Å"if . . . thenâ⬠statement, a comma preceding then is necessary: ââ¬Å"If I agree, then sheââ¬â¢ll be happy.â⬠If the comma is deleted, then might seem, at least initially, to refer to time (equivalent to ââ¬Å"If I agree at that time, rather than at another time, sheââ¬â¢ll be happyâ⬠), so, for clarity, insert the comma. Note, however, that an ââ¬Å"if . . . thenâ⬠statement doesnââ¬â¢t necessarily require then. The second sentence in this paragraph has that structure but lacks then (except referring to the word as a word, which doesnââ¬â¢t count). The sample sentence could be written, ââ¬Å"If I agree, sheââ¬â¢ll be happy.â⬠Here, too, omitting the comma would create ambiguity: Someone reading, ââ¬Å"If I agree sheââ¬â¢ll be happyâ⬠might begin to assume that the writer is concurring that the other person will be happy at some other time, and that the sentence is merely an introductory phrase, only to find that no additional wording (for example, ââ¬Å"sheââ¬â¢ll appreciate that I share her opinionâ⬠) follows. In a sentence such as ââ¬Å"I had a cup of coffee, then set to work,â⬠the comma is also required. However, if a conjunction precedes then (ââ¬Å"I had a cup of coffee and then set to workâ⬠), the comma is omitted because it is redundant to the conjunction. When then is employed as an emphatic filler (ââ¬Å"What, then, is the point?â⬠), though, the comma is of course necessary as the second in a pair of punctuation marks that bracket the parenthetical word. Writing that deviates from these rules may still be understandable though perhaps after possible initial confusion but itââ¬â¢s colloquial and doesnââ¬â¢t reflect well on careful writers. Shock Advertising and High Fashion Brands Essay
Shock Advertising and High Fashion Brands - Essay Example The paper "Shock Advertising and High Fashion Brands" talks about High Fashion Brands and Shock Advertising. Shock advertising, sex and high fashion brands make an irresistible mix. Over half a century of research has proven to be in favor of sex in advertising as Wikipedia (2005) suggested: ââ¬Å"Further evidence comes from Gallup & Robinson, an advertising and marketing research firm which reports that in more than 50 years of testing advertising effectiveness, it has found the use of the erotic to be a significantly above-average technique in communicating with the marketplace, "although one of the more dangerous for the advertiser. Weighted down with taboos and volatile attitudes, sex is a Code Red advertising technique . . . handle with care . . . seller beware; all of which makes it even more intriguing."â⬠Lately the trend has continued with a lot of strength: ââ¬Å"In recent years ads for jeans, perfumes, and many other products have featured provocative images that we re designed to elicit sexual responses from as large a cross section of the population as possible, to shock by their ambivalence, and often to appeal to repressed sexual desires, which are thought to carry a stronger emotional loadâ⬠. Review about Orientalism by Edward Said Movie Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
About Orientalism by Edward Said - Movie Review Example In the video, Said makes several points about the way our opinions as Westerners about the East are incorrect. The first point he makes is that we as Westerners tend to think of the East as having a single identity. Whether the individual in question is from Egypt, Palestine, Iraq or India, we tend to think of them all as existing under the same identity. Said makes this point by showing a map that has an overlay of three different men, each wearing a different traditional outfit and each associated with a different region of what we consider the ââ¬ËEastââ¬â¢. Even though these people were obviously very different, the graphic has these images come together so that they are all stacked on top of each other. While it may be common for us to try to blend these people together under a single identity, the graphic keeps this error clear by not allowing the shapes to blend so that they look awkward and incorrect. This identity Westerners have created is relatively well-defined and has very little in common with the reality. This idea is based on ancient conceptions of the East and idealized images provided through centuries of artistic expression. As Said points out, most of the information distributed about the East was information that all referred back to a single source. That single source had given a very limited view of what he understood about a very small segment of the East. In keeping with our ideas that the men of the East are all the same, there is also an idea among Westerners that the women of the East are essentially non-people. Constantly depicted wearing silks and seductive clothing when inside or being completely covered when outside, these women are shown to be nothing more than the toys of the men in depictions in the West. This is pointed out by Said at several points during the video. In the West, we were given the impression that these women are
